2022 Leadership Journey Project: Creating a conducive work culture for new mothers within the organization
I am Dr. Temsunaro Rongsen-Chandola, a Senior Scientist and Senior Deputy Director at the Centre for Health Research and Development, Society for Applied Studies, a research organization based in New Delhi, India. I am a physician by training with a Masters in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a PhD from the University of Bergen. I have been working in the field of Clinical Research for more than a decade. My expertise is in the implementation of large community and hospital-based trials, surveillance of infectious diseases, and vaccine evaluation. I have led teams as the Principal Investigator in multiple projects. I am currently the Principal Investigator of the Delhi site for the establishment of a Demographic and Health Surveillance site as part of the National Biopharma Mission network. I am a team player and excellent in managing teams, interacting with various stakeholders and external agencies; both National and International. I believe that the most important component for the success of a project is the people; I value people with integrity, a sense of responsibility, and willingness to learn. I find it extremely challenging to identify solutions for retaining trained staff in the absence of funding between projects.
