2023 Leadership Journey Project: Examining the leadership and implementation of selected public health services through a gender lens in Kisumu
Elizabeth is a career medical doctor by training with experience in public health programming, implementation, and research, epidemiology, and emergency management at various levels. After beginning in a clinical setting, she developed an interest in participating in interventions that could reach more than one person at a time, leading to a leadership and managerial role as the health service delivery lead in a rural sub-county. She later assumed a management role at the county level and is currently an Epidemiologist and Grants and Sponsored Programs Technical Lead.
Elizabeth started her career as a Medical Officer before moving up to be a Sub-County Medical Officer of Health. Elizabeth holds a MBChB, MSc. Field Epidemiology, Fellowship in Public Health Emergency Management.
Elizabeth recognizes the untapped potential of women in leadership and the potential they could achieve if these spaces became available for them. She believes a woman’s leadership is vibrant and endearing and is likely to have a 360-degree approach.
In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys music of all forms, kinds, and times.
