Purba Chatterjee serves as the Associate Director of Global Health Equity at the University of California San Francisco, Bixby Center, while concurrently pursuing her Dr. PH program at University of California, Berkeley. Originally from India, with formative years spent in Chennai and Kolkata, Purba came to the US to pursue her Bachelors in Economics degree at the University of California Los Angeles. Subsequently, she completed her Masters in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. With two decades of public health program management experience, Purba has been involved in HIV/AIDS and non-communicable diseases projects both domestically and globally in Uganda, India, Nepal, and now Kenya. Her commitment to mental health issues and global health equity is evident in her role as a driving force behind the “Equitable Global Health Partnerships” initiative at UCSF. She aspires to expand this initiative beyond UCSF to other UC campuses and institutions dedicated to ensuring global health equity. In her current capacity as the Associate Director of Global Health Equity at UCSF, she oversees research administration for HIV/AIDS and affiliated studies in Western Kenya. Simultaneously, she co-leads global health equity initiatives, showcasing her leadership and organizational skills. Beyond her professional commitments, Purba enjoys hiking with her family, practicing yoga, and learning multiple languages. She is an avid traveler and enjoys connecting with people through culinary experiences.
