Report Synopsis:
“Delivered by Women, Led by Men” – a 2019 WHO report – reviews over 170 studies on gender and equity in global health and finds that women make up 70% of the global health workforce but hold only 25% of senior roles. It argues that global health is weakened by a loss of female talent, ideas and knowledge, creating barriers to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and universal health coverage. With more women in leadership positions, the report claims, the world would be better positioned to tackle myriad health challenges and achieve the global commitment to health for all.
