Rumbidzai Chisenga
Rumbidzai Chisenga is a visionary leader, dedicated to advancing women’s leadership and shaping Africa’s socio-economic development.
She is the former Director of Programs at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development (EJS Center), where she led the groundbreaking Amujae Initiative; a program that equips African women to take up leadership in public governance, unapologetically.
Rumbidzai’s collaborative spirit and expertise make her an invaluable ally to initiatives aimed at enhancing women’s leadership in public health. She brings a wealth of experience in developing strategies that foster gender equity, enabling women to take their rightful place in decision-making spaces.
Her career includes impactful roles, such as Program Manager at the Mandela Institute for Development Studies (MINDS), where she led initiatives like the MINDS Scholarship Program for Leadership Development and the Youth Program on Elections and Governance, connecting and mobilizing youth across 53 African countries. Her management consulting experience and the founding of a social enterprise highlight her ability to bridge diverse sectors for lasting change.
An alumna of the prestigious Obama Foundation Scholars Program at Columbia University, Rumbidzai also holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard University, a Master of Management degree from the University of Witwatersrand and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Rhodes University. She is a fellow of the Emerging African Leaders Programme (University of Cape Town) and the Atlantic Dialogues Emerging Leaders Programme (Morocco).
Through her leadership, Rumbidzai not only inspires the next generation of women leaders but also amplifies the vision of WomenLift Health by advocating for inclusive, equitable, and impactful leadership in global health.

Ms. Akhona Tshangela is a Public Health professional with over 15 years’ experience, including as a Pioneer at the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, where she co-chaired the science, regulations, and standards technical working group during the COVID-19 response. She holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Pretoria and a Bachelor’s in Human Genetics from the University of Cape Town. As the Southern Africa Director for WomenLift Health, Akhona is dedicated to promoting inclusivity and the vital role of female leadership in Public Health decision-making. Learn more
Sukhuoluhle Moyo – Senior Programme Manager, Southern Africa
Ms. Sukhuoluhle Moyo is a seasoned development professional with over 14 years’ experience in gender equality, women’s empowerment, HIV/AIDS, population, and development issues. Having worked extensively with both the United Nations (UN) and civil society organizations. Currently, Sukhuoluhle, our Southern Africa Senior Program Manager, is passionate about women’ rights and working with young women on inclusion, leadership and feminist movement building. Learn more
