Maria Carrasco is an Ecuadorian-American behavioral scientist with 20 years of experience providing technical assistance, and managing public health programs in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. In her current role with the Office of Population and Reproductive Health at USAID, she leads the High Impact Practices (HIPs) in Family Planning team and is co-lead of the offices Research Support Team. Maria is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she teaches a graduate course focusing on Latino Health in the United States. In 2020 she was among a group of behavioral sciences experts invited to join the inaugural WHO Technical Advisory Group on Behavioural Insights and Sciences for Health. Maria received her B.S. in Economics from Truman State University, her Master of Public Policy from Duke University and her Master of Public Health (MPH) and PhD from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
