King Kaka is a popular Kenyan hip hop artist, songwriter, video director, executive producer and entrepreneur. He has raised awareness around the urgent need to improve the menstrual health of young Kenyan girls and keep them in school. Through his “Bank on Me” Sanitary Bank Campaign, which has benefited over 10,000 girls through combatting menstruation-related absenteeism, he is also working to end period poverty and mentoring boys to become better male allies. He is passionate about youth issues, and in 2013, was named a Youth Initiative East Africa Ambassador for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). In 2018, he joined other young leaders from around the world at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Goalkeepers summit, where he spoke alongside globally recognized figures such as Bill Gates, Melinda Gates, Graça Machel and Ed Sheeran.
