Leona Rosenblum is a global health professional with more than ten years of experience designing, implementing, and evaluating digital health programs. As Deputy Director of JSI’s Center for Digital Health, Leona works to ensure that JSI and our clients are equipped to identify, adapt, and apply appropriate, innovative, and effective technology to improve public health across the globe. Leona’s focus is on the application of digital tools to solve public health challenges in maternal and child health, nutrition, immunization, HIV/AIDS, malaria, and family planning. In her time at JSI she has successfully launched the Center for Digital Health as a new core competency center of the organization, led the technical writing of multiple successful digital health proposals totaling more than $250 million, and supported the development of the electronic community health system in Ethiopia to reach 2000+ users and register more than 250,000 beneficiaries.
Prior to her work at JSI, she worked with the Mali Health Organizing Project to launch a Community Health Worker (CHW) Program in peri-urban Bamako, providing health education, visits, and referrals for 250 families for 15,000+ home visits. She also spent time in South Africa working with both the Clinton Health Access Initiative and USAID to strengthen HIV programs. She is fluent in French, and has significant work experience in Ethiopia, Ghana, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Myanmar, Nigeria Senegal, and South Africa. Leona graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BA in development studies and comparative literature from Brown University and an MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is originally from New York City, but currently lives in the Capitol Hill Neighborhood of Washington, DC in a very old house with her husband and their dog Watson.
