Integrating gender analysis in coronavirus outbreak responses would help save lives. This article by Think Global Health, an initiative of the Council on Foreign Relations explains how gender inequities make outbreaks like the coronavirus worse. Integrating gender analysis in outbreak responses would answer questions that would allow for the proper responses and distribution of resources. These questions include (1) Are biological/social factors leading to a difference in infection and mortality rates? (2) Who is caring for the ill in both homes and healthcare settings, and (3) are those caregivers (mostly women) being fairly compensated? (4) Who is making the decisions about the outbreak response?
