I am Ms. Bibudha Bijayalaxmi, working as a Consultant Nurse under the National Health Mission, Odisha, since 2015. My primary responsibility is to strengthen nursing education in government nursing institutions and enhance the quality of nursing services at healthcare facilities.
In Odisha, there are 29 government nursing institutions, including 8 Colleges of Nursing and 21 ANM Training Centres. My work focuses on improving the quality of nursing education at the institutional level to ensure better patient care. This includes facilitating the establishment of skill labs, training nursing officers, providing mentoring support to Community Health Officers (CHOs), and guiding nursing institutions in managing educational activities, including financial management.
I also coordinate with institutions, the Government of India, and the State Government to implement midwifery initiatives. Currently, Odisha has three functional State Midwifery Training Institutes (SMTIs) that provide Nurse Practitioner in Midwifery training to ensure women-centric, respectful maternity care at Midwifery-Led Care Units.
As the nursing profession is predominantly female, I am committed to strengthening nursing education and services in every aspect, ensuring the well-being and empowerment of nursing professionals.
