What I do:
As an Associate Professor at ILBS, I lead nationwide liver health initiatives and public awareness campaigns. My work sits at the intersection of clinical epidemiology and public health policy, focusing on the prevention and early detection of liver disease across multiple Indian states. I design and oversee screening programs for all age groups—from school children to adults—helping identify early liver disease risks before they progress. I also build strategic partnerships with government agencies, corporations, and healthcare organizations to expand these efforts through CSR funding. Additionally, I contribute to curriculum development, research publications, and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen liver disease management in India.

Why it matters:
Liver disease, particularly non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), is a growing yet underrecognized public health challenge in India. By integrating early screening into national healthcare frameworks, we are enabling timely intervention when conditions are still reversible. Our school- and college-based programs help identify risk factors in youth, potentially preventing lifelong complications. Through public-private partnerships, we extend vital health services to underserved communities that would otherwise lack access to specialized care. This comprehensive, prevention-focused approach not only improves individual health outcomes but also reduces the economic burden of chronic disease on families and the healthcare system. Ultimately, our goal is to build healthier communities and establish scalable models for NAFLD prevention across India.

By integrating early screening into national healthcare frameworks, we are enabling timely intervention when liver disease is still reversible—creating healthier communities and a stronger future for India.
