Dr. Mythri Shankar

As an Associate Professor and nephrologist at a tertiary care government medical institute, I find my greatest fulfillment in advancing nephrology education and promoting gender equity within the field. I train DM Nephrology residents and lead the Nephrology Education Collective, a global program dedicated to integrating innovative educational practices and social media into the curriculum, enhancing the learning experience for nephrologists worldwide. My involvement with the International Society of Nephrology allows me to contribute to the creation of engaging and accessible educational content.

Committed to advocating for gender equality, I serve as the Secretary of Women in Nephrology India, where I help organize webinars and facilitate discussions that highlight and address the challenges women face in nephrology, fostering a more supportive environment for female nephrologists.

Mentorship is a cornerstone of my work. Through roles in various national and international fellowships and educational committees, I provide guidance and opportunities for young professionals, equipping them with the clinical and research skills needed to navigate our evolving field. This mentorship ensures they not only meet professional demands but also bring diverse perspectives to global kidney health challenges.

Each of these roles gives me the profound opportunity to shape the future of nephrology, ensuring it continues to grow as a dynamic and inclusive specialty.
