Implementing the Integrated Eye (Cataract) Health project in Kenya’s rural and arid/semi-arid lands (ASALs) with The Fred Hollows Foundation, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of equitable healthcare access. My work extends beyond restoring sight—it empowers individuals, strengthens communities, and reinforces health systems. Through collaboration, I strive to bridge healthcare gaps, ensuring even the most underserved populations receive quality eye care.
As we approach International Women’s Day 2025, I am committed to amplifying the voices of women and girls in the health sector. This year’s theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality.”, deeply aligns with my mission to advocate for gender equity in healthcare. Women in rural Kenya often encounter systemic barriers to medical services, yet they play a vital role in community well-being. By championing inclusive policies, fostering leadership opportunities, and expanding access to essential health services, I am dedicated to driving meaningful change.
Empowering women and girls is not just a call to action—it is a collective responsibility. Through my work, I remain steadfast in advancing their rights, promoting equality, and creating lasting impact in healthcare and society at large.
