I am the Director and a founding member of Basic Healthcare Services, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that rural and tribal communities in Rajasthan, India, have access to dignified and quality healthcare. Our vision is a world where the most marginalized populations can lead healthy lives with dignity.
To achieve this, we run AMRIT Clinics, 24/7 primary healthcare facilities staffed by committed teams of nurses, doctors, and health workers. Alongside these clinics, we operate daycare centers that provide safe spaces, nutritious meals, and early learning opportunities for young children—laying the foundation for a healthier future.
At BHS, we believe that healthcare extends beyond medical treatment. That’s why we collaborate with organizations specializing in management, agriculture, and livelihoods to develop holistic primary healthcare solutions that address the broader social determinants of health.
The impact of our work is tangible. The care provided at our clinics has saved thousands of lives—from women facing pregnancy complications to patients battling severe tuberculosis and malnourished children fighting to survive. Children attending our daycare centers show remarkable improvements in nutrition and cognitive development, reinforcing the power of early intervention.
At the heart of it all are the healthcare workers—the backbone of our mission. We have seen firsthand that when they are mentored, supported, and treated with dignity, they deliver extraordinary outcomes. Their dedication and resilience inspire me every day, and I am deeply grateful for all that we are able to achieve together.
