As Deputy Director at the Bay Area Global Health Alliance, Abbey Kocan leverages 18 years of cross-sector experience to advance global health equity and innovation. Working with 90 diverse member organizations, she applies her expertise in strategy, governance, partnerships, fundraising, and organizational design to drive impactful global health initiatives. Previously, as Executive Director of Kupona Foundation, Abbey significantly enhanced healthcare access in Tanzania, collaborating closely with CCBRT, a locally-led Tanzanian non-governmental organization. Prior to leading Kupona, Abbey lived in Tanzania and worked with CCBRT while on sabbatical from her previous career path as a Manager in Deloitte’s Human Capital consulting practice. Abbey holds an M.B.A. from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and a B.A. in Sociology and Spanish from Bucknell University, where she excelled as a Division-I soccer player and two-year team captain.
