As a healthcare provider, I have learned the pivotal role of evidence-based approaches in ensuring the best possible outcomes. But, in moments of vulnerability as a patient or caregiver of loved ones, especially when my grandmother died, I have yearned for a holistic approach to medicine that not only heals the body but also nourishes the soul. Hence, my work over the last decade has been about integrating clinical science that guides our understanding of diseases and their treatments with the art of delivering healthcare, understanding how organizations behave, and how to infuse empathy, compassion, and creativity into the practice of medicine, reminding us that behind every diagnosis lies a uniquely human experience. I am a paediatrician with a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) and a Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Paediatrics, a public health practitioner with a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from Harvard University as a Fulbright scholar, and an Improvement Advisor (IA) certified by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). Currently, I serve as a Non-Resident Fellow at the Center for Global Development, building a culture for evidence-based medicine and decision-making through the use of clinical guidelines and economic evidence. I am also an advisor to the AIIMS (Delhi) Humanities in Medicine Initiative. Furthermore, I am an IHI faculty and have supported quality improvement projects in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nepal, Singapore, and Taiwan. Prior to this, I worked as a consultant for organizations such as the National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (NICE) UK, the World Bank, and Imperial College London.
