“Amnah Ibuni is the Director of Health & Wellbeing at Sure Steps Nursery & Primary in Zanzibar, Tanzania, leading strategic initiatives to enhance student and staff wellness. With a strong public health focus, she integrates evidence-based practices into school health programs, emphasizing nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention. Her gender-responsive leadership approach advocates for inclusive health policies that empower young girls and ensure equitable healthcare access.
Previously, she served as the Head of Programmes at JALI Initiative in Dar es Salaam, working to improve the health and well-being of women and girls by prioritizing their voices in healthcare policies and services.
She holds an MSc in Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy & Programming from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, an MA in Development Studies from the University of Sussex, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Punjab Technical University in India. She was awarded the Mandela Washington Fellowship in 2014 and the Chevening Scholarship in 2019.
