Dr. Amy Finnegan is the Deputy Director of Data Science at IntraHealth International. She applies emerging digital health technologies, optimization and operations research, and big data methodologies to challenges in global health like advancing HIV epidemic control, improving access to quality maternal and child health services, and optimizing digital payments. Her work seeks to improve program implementation, nurture the data science skills of LMIC professionals and students, and advance the literature on the use of big data and data science methods in global health. She is an expert in R, geospatial modeling, continuous quality improvement, and business intelligence tools (Power BI/Power Query). Amy is a demographer and data scientist with over 15 years of experience working in global health, development, and data science in emerging economies on four continents. Amy is also adjunct faculty at Duke University’s Global Health Institute. Amy earned her PhD at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy, MPA at New York University, and studied political science as an undergraduate at South Dakota State University, her home state.
