2023 Leadership Journey Project: Teenage pregnancies and its consequences in quality of life: Developing peer mentorship model about sexual and reproductive health in Rwanda

Angelique Mugirente is a Rwandese midwife who holds a diploma in midwifery and a Master’s in Public Health. She currently works as the CBMNCH Technical Coordinator/Jhpiego, where she is responsible for budget planning, activity implementation, monitoring and evaluation, supportive supervision, and reporting. With 10 years of experience in public health, she has developed skills in reproductive maternal newborn child health, malaria, and community health activities.

She holds a Masters of Public Health from the University of Rwanda, a Bachelor’s degree in public health from Saint Joseph University, DRC, a Diploma in Nursing midwifery from the Kigali Health Institute (KHI), Kigali, Rwanda, and an Advanced Level Certificate in general nursing from ESSA Gisenyi, Rwanda.

Between May 2019 and January 2020, Angelique served as the project manager for the International Confederation of Midwives through the Rwanda Association of Midwives on the 50,000 Happy Birthday project. Prior to that, she held positions as Malaria Program Officer at MCSP from June 2015 to March 2019, VMMC technical officer at Jhpiego from September 2014 to June 2015, and Simulation Centre Program Coordinator /UR, Faculty of Medicine from February 2013 to May 2014.

Angelique has also worked as a Malaria Technical Officer at MCHIP and as an MNH coordinator at MCHIP.

Fun Fact: Angelique enjoys the tranquility of watering her garden while listening to her favorite tunes. She is also an avid reader who loves novels and finds peace in her homeland.
