Angellah Nakyanzi, Country Manager, THINKWELL
Angellah Nakyanzi is a seasoned economist, a development practitioner and a technical leader focused on strengthening the Ugandan health system to deliver critical health services. She has over 10 years’ experience working in global health, economic empowerment and livelihood and economic research with international NGOs and the private health sector. Ms. Nakyanzi has spearheaded several important policy initiatives in Uganda – the institutionalization of results-based financing (RBF) into government purchasing systems, and the introduction of a mechanism to assess and improve private health sector quality through the Self-Regulatory Quality Improvement System (SQIS). She has several publications to her name including the publication of the first-ever Private Sector Assessment (PSA), and institutional strengthening of the Ministry’s Public Private Partnership in Health (PPPH) Node. Prior to joining ThinkWell, she was a Private Sector Advisor on the USAID/ Uganda Private Support Program. Ms. Nakyanzi has a bachelor’s degree in economics and a MSc. in Population and Reproductive Health from Makerere University, Uganda, and a certificate in Managing Markets for Health from the University of Edinburg.
