Barbara Akita is a global health professional with over 15 years of experience in healthcare program management, health systems strengthening, and capacity building in South Sudan. She has worked with government agencies, NGOs, and international donors, including USAID and GAVI, to implement sustainable healthcare initiatives. Her expertise includes managing health programs, fostering strategic partnerships, and leading evaluations to improve healthcare outcomes.

She has held key roles such as Health Field Operations Manager at Mott MacDonald and Health Project Coordinator at Crown Agents, contributing to the Health Pooled Fund in South Sudan. As a consultant with UNICEF, she supported the RRHP project, ensuring effective implementation, while at IMA World Health, she strengthened health systems. Her experience also includes emergency response with IRC and maternal and child health initiatives with Jhpiego.

Barbara holds a master’s in international health (TroPEd), an Advanced Professional Degree in Health Care Management from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, and an Advanced Diploma in Community Health from Moi University. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Monitoring and Evaluation at Clarke International University.

She believes women’s leadership in global health drives inclusive policies, community engagement, and gender equity.
