Bonita Beatrice Nanziri is a Health Tech innovator and Entrepreneur. She is a Software Engineer with a burning passion for Children, Health and Women in STEM.
She is the founder of AfriGal Tech a group of passionate technologists with a vision of using Technology to increase access to basic healthcare in low resource settings. She is the project lead of mDex smartphone-based Sickle Cell Diagnostic tool which has a registered patent in Uganda and in the US. mDex is a smartphone-based, low-cost, reusable, near instant point of care diagnostic tool aimed at increasing access to sickle cell diagnostic services in low resourced areas.
Due to her impactful innovation, she led the team that won the national finals of Imagine Cup 2014 and went on to represent Uganda at the World Finals in Seattle, USA. mDex was featured on BBC Africa among the apps changing Uganda and also won a Technical Review award at the TechCon 2016.
Ms. Nanziri is also a Global Health Corps alumni where she was the eHealth & Informatics Officer at IntraHealth International SHRH project. She’s a Cherie Blair Mentee alumni, Grace Hopper Fellow 2014, a Tedx speaker, a Microsoft Patent Program pioneer and a SwitchPoint speaker.
Ms. Nanziri is a health freak and runs a fresh sugar free juice and herbal tea blends business. She is currently expanding it to feature healthy snacks and foods prepared in a healthy way so people can indulge with a guilt free conscience. She also mentors girls and young women in line with pursuing careers in STEM.
