2020 Leadership Journey Project: Beyond the Youth Corner: Accelerating Action for Adolescent- and Gender-Responsive Health Systems
Callie Simon is the Senior Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Advisor and Team Lead at Save the Children, United States. Ms. Simon has 15 years of experience in adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights (AYSRHR) and gender, and has designed and supported the technical strategies of leading AYSRHR programs in more than 15 countries across Latin America, Africa, and South Asia. Ms. Simon currently leads AYSRHR strategy at Save the Children, including facilitating the development of Save the Children’s global AYSRHR approach, strengthening capacity for quality programming, and spearheading AYSRHR business development. Ms. Simon has facilitated the development, testing, and use of social and behavior change, training, and program design materials for AYSRHR, with a focus on contraception and gender.
She has chaired a range of technical working groups and communities of practice, including the Implementing Best Practices Adolescent Health Task Force and the Youth Health and Rights Coalition. Prior to joining Save the Children, Ms. Simon was a Peace Corps Volunteer, and worked with Pathfinder International, CARE, and USAID. She holds an MPH from Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and a BA from the University of Miami.
