Ciara Sugerman, PhD, is the lead of the Immunization Delivery Science Team in the Global Immunization Division (GID) at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She is an epidemiologist with over 20 years of experience in global public health. She was based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for four years at the CDC-Ethiopia Country Office as the Immunization Program Director for GID where she worked on strengthening immunization systems in childhood and beyond. Her work focuses on increasing immunization coverage and equity, immunization recovery, strengthening the life course approach to immunizations, operational and implementation research to inform improvements in immunization service delivery, and translation of evidence-based strategies into practice. She has published >70 peer reviewed scientific articles. She received her PhD from University College Cork, Ireland, along with a post-doctoral followship, and completed the Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer fellowship in applied field epidemiology at CDC.
