2022 Leadership Journey Project: Leveraging Donor support to strengthen Systems for Governance, Health workforce
Dr Cordelia Katureebe Mboijana is a pediatrician, child health specialist , currently working as a National coordinator for HIV care and Treatment at the Uganda Ministry of Health, AIDS Control Program. She carries with her over 17 years’ experience in clinical care, strategic planning, and implementation of programs addressing HIV care and treatment for people living with HIV. As a project coordinator for the CDC-MOH cooperative agreement she manages funds to support the AIDS Control Program to deliver on its mandate in supporting the National HIV response towards achieving epidemic control and ending AIDS by 2030. Her recent work has been leading the actual roll out of the standards of care through the institutionalization of Quality improvement approaches along the cascades of care for HIV/TB, Advanced HIV disease, Peadiatric and
She leads a team of over 100 health workers and coordinates health systems strengthening work across all regional referral hospitals and districts in the country.
With her skills in Public health policy analysis and development she has reviewed and implemented existing policies around HIV care and treatment and focused on ensuring the optimization of ART for people living with HIV. She has conducted operations research and is currently a Principal investigator on a study to
validate a tool to support HIV testing among children and adolescents.
Dr Katureebe is passionate about Health systems strengthening and much of her work will be focused on implementation of interventions to strengthen the key aspects of health systems for the Regional referral Hospitals to ensure they become centres of excellence in their mandate to achieve epidemic control at the regional level.
