I am a PhD. in biotechnology with expertise in bioremediation and pollution analysis. I have been working in the field of pollution and bioremediation since 2001, when I enrolled for my PhD and worked at developing a microbial consortium for degrading oil sludge. After a break of seven years due to family reasons, I returned to research field as a visiting faculty at the Symbiosis International Deemed University, Pune in 2015. WOS B fellowship by DST in 2017 was a turning point in my renewed scientific career and was instrumental in me getting my current job as Assistant Professor at the Symbiosis Centre for Waste Resource Management (SCWRM), Symbiosis International Deemed University, Pune. At SCWRM I am involved in, and responsible for, the research being undertaken at the department and the research output in the form of publications, patents and extramural research grants. I have two Ph.D. students under my guidance and have been mentoring many master’s dissertation students over the last eight years. I have over 30 research publications till date and have published three patents. My current research interests and areas include, bioremediation, biosurfactants, microplastics and pharmaceutical pollution monitoring and remediation, as well as waste valorization.
