Dr. Nazla Rafeeg has worked in Public Health since 2010. As Head of the Division of Communicable Disease Control, for the last 5 years she had led the teams for national disease control programs such as TB, HIV and STIs, the National Immunization Program and is also responsible for directing outbreak management. In addition, she has overseen the national application and verification process for achieving elimination status of Lymphatic Filariasis, Measles, Rubella and mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis in Maldives.
Recently, Dr. Rafeeg has been involved with the Maldives’ response to COVID, overseeing the establishment and functioning of its contact tracing operation, and is currently the spokesperson for the Health Emergency Operations Centre for COVID.
Dr. Rafeeg obtained her medical degree from University of Punjab, Pakistan and Master of Public Health from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
