Grace is a seasoned Public Health expert with 13 years’ experience in clinical research management, program design and partnership engagement across donor-funded initiatives. She is a Manager, Research Capacity Strengthening at IAVI responsible for oversight, management and execution of capacity strengthening initiatives in ADVANCE programs at the intersection of research and leadership that involves Africa and India partners.
She previously worked at Aga Khan University’s Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health, East Africa, as Research Specialist responsible for technical leadership, coordination and implementation in a multi-centre research program in Maternal and Child Health. She also previously worked at KEMRI-Wellcome Trust, Kilifi in research studies primarily focusing on HIV prevention among vulnerable populations and other programmatic work.
Grace had an opportunity to work abroad through Professional Development Experience at Public Health Management Corporation in Philadelphia PA, USA and as an E-learning Consultancy in Vancouver, BC Canada. She is skilled at managing health programs complexities and nuance related to programme implementation and introducing improvements to facilitate optimal outcomes.
In 2021, she won the International Research Management Development Programme to develop individual capacity through North – South collaboration that was awarded by Science for Africa Foundation. She developed a toolkit with competency resources for research management.
She has Leadership and Public Management in health through summer trainings from The Ohio State University and University of Washington respectively. Grace is a Mandela Washington Fellow for Young African Leaders 2016, Queen Elizabeth II Scholar 2017, Sub-Saharan African Network for TB/HIV Research Excellence fellowship (SANTHE) Fellow 2018. She holds a Master’s in Public Health from Simon Fraser University, BC Canada.
