Dr. Immaculate Mutisya is a Senior Global Health Specialist and Pediatrician with twenty years of experience in maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH). She holds a master’s in medicine, Pediatrics and Child Health, and an MSc in Global Health and Infectious Diseases. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence with a focus on global health.
Dr. Mutisya has a solid background in clinical medicine, pediatrics, neonatology, and child and adolescent health. She has served at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and co-chaired the PEPFAR Kenya interagency team (CDC, USAID and DOD). Her extensive experience includes strategic plan development and the implementation of complex global health programs, as well as developing, evaluating, and implementing large funding awards. She has worked extensively with ministries of health, civil society organizations and other local and international stakeholders in global health such as the Global Fund, WHO, UNICEF, UNAIDS among others.
She is a member of multiple global technical working groups and has extensive skills in sustaining global strategic partnerships and advocating for evidence-informed policies. She has co-authored several global policy documents and technical briefs by WHO and UNICEF and is widely published in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Mutisya has received several global and international awards for her role in leading innovations, such as the Operation Triple Zero initiative, which has been scaled up in ten African countries. Other accolades include the prestigious CDC-GHC Health Equity Award. In March 2024, she was named a Global TB Elimination Champion by CDC -GHC for her leadership in combating tuberculosis in children.
