Prof K. Sanatombi did B.Sc (2000) and M.Sc in Botany (2002) from Panjab University. After clearing CSIR Junior research fellowship (JRF)-NET in 2002, she completed her Ph. D. (Life Sciences) from Manipur university in the year 2008. During her Ph. D., she worked on tissue culture and genetic profiling of Capsicum species. In 2009, she joined as Assistant Professor in the department of Biotechnology, Manipur University and continued as Associate Professor till 2023. She was again appointed as a professor in the department of Biotechnology, Manipur University, in December 2023. She is a recipient of prestigious fellowships/ projects, such as CSIR Research Associateship, DBT Bio-CARE Women Scientist, SERB FASTRACK Young Scientist, SERB CORE GRANT, and DBT Agricultural Biotechnology grant. She has also contributed to the development of more than 50 modules of e-content and is the course coordinator of two MOOCs (Cell Biology and Plant biochemistry and biotechnology). Her research is mainly focused in tissue culture of medicinal and aromatic plants for secondary metabolite production. She has published many research articles in journals of international repute and contributed some chapters in edited books published by international publishers.
