Dr. Khizra Syed developed a fascination for public health after transitioning from clinical work to an administrative position where she’s been working in public health for over six years. She has since been promoted to a higher position at the county level, where she is now the head of the Digital Health Transformation agenda for the Department of Health in Kisumu. She has held several positions within the public health sector, including the head of the Health Insurance docket, Head of Health Financing and Resource Mobilization, and finally, the Head of Digital Health.
Khizra holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Surgery and a Master of Science in Health Economics and Policy, in addition to several achievements and short courses in various fields, including leadership and management, global policy, and epidemiology.
She is excited about women’s leadership in global and public health and the conversations they are generating surrounding women’s health and global issues.
Fun Fact: she is afraid of clowns, a fear that developed when she was a little girl and has persisted into adulthood.
