Dr. Mangayarkarasi is a Professor & Head and Faculty-in-charge (Research) at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Madurai, Tamil Nadu. In her capacity as the faculty in charge of research, she established the research cell, received national recognition for her newly established institution, and formed a number of research committees with prominent directors and professors from universities and healthcare organizations. In her capacity as Head and Professor, she is in charge of supervising the academic activities of teaching medical students in the Microbiology Department. In addition, she serves as the Institutional Ethical Committee’s Member Secretary. After obtaining her Doctor of Medicine (MD), she worked as a medical officer for three years at various types of multispecialty and cardiac care hospitals. She has over 24 years of experience in teaching medicine. Her thesis, “”Molecular and Sero epidemiological typing of Water Borne Pathogens – Toxin Producing E. coli and Rotavirus in Children,”” awarded her a Ph.D. in 2012. She serves as the Hospital Infection Control Committee’s co-chair. She was an additional professor and head of department of clinical microbiology at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh, India preceding this. She served as the Principal Investigator of the Viral Research Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL), which was supported by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and the Nodal Officer for AIIMS Andhra Pradesh, India for COVID-19. She headed the Medical Education Unit at her earlier institution before joining AIIMS, where she trained faculty members in competency-based medical education using advanced teaching resources. Over forty publications in both national and international journals have been published by her. She completed training at Partners Medical International in Boston, USA, where she developed an academic curriculum for her Institution. She handled multiple student education activities and community health campaigns for infectious diseases. Along with affiliations in numerous other societies, she holds elected positions in medical associations such as the Academy of Clinical Microbiologists (ACM) and the Tamil Nadu branch of the Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists (IAMM). She had given guest speaks at numerous Indian universities. For her best research paper presentations and medical teaching, she had won numerous awards and awards. She has led over fifty medical faculty development programmes that have been approved by the Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC) and the Medical Council of India (MCI). She has also led workshops, training programmes for infectious diseases, and ongoing medical education programmes.
