Dr. Mariam Johari is a passionate global health leader dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable populations by advancing capacity-building solutions within health systems and communities. As the Country Director and NEST360 Liaison in Tanzania, she leads efforts to reduce neonatal mortality through evidence-based, sustainable hospital care innovations.
With extensive experience collaborating with Tanzania’s Ministry of Health, Dr. Mariam has advised on Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) and contributed to programs preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV. Her consultancy work spans baseline assessments, evaluations, and healthcare workforce training tools for both local and international NGOs.
Previously, she held senior roles at Nexleaf Analytics, GIZ, and Pathfinder International. Dr. Mariam holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) with Distinction from the University of Nottingham and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Hubert Kairuki Memorial University. She is a Chevening Scholar and a strong advocate for women’s leadership in global health, believing that it fosters equity, innovation, and sustainable solutions.
