2023 Leadership Journey Project: Strengthening community systems to advance health and equity efforts against Malaria in pregnant women and children under 5 years
Mary Mbidde is a competent programme management professional with over ten (10) years experience providing technical support and guidance to teams to ensure that the intended beneficiaries have access to and benefit from programme interventions. Her work has evolved around working with HIV positive women and their infected and affected children and families under the MTCT Plus Initiative; and monitoring and evaluation of National programs, Malaria, Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS to actual implementation of the three disease focused programs.
Mary currently works as a Senior Technical Advisor for Malaria at The AIDS Support Organization where she provides oversight and guidance in implementation of Global Fund malaria grant activities at health facility and community levels. She has previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers Uganda as a Programmatic/M&E Specialist/Expert for the Global Fund Local Fund Agent and as Medical Officer, Clinical Coordinator and HIV Trial Study Manager at St Francis Hospital Nsambya in Kampala.
She has a medical background with training in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Makerere University School of Health Sciences, and Business Administration from Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute, Arusha, Tanzania.
Fun fact: Mary is a mother of two girls who are her best friend. She is very passionate about things she likes and is approachable, outgoing and fun loving. Her interests include dancing, interior designing, spending time with family and friends, adventuring and trying new things.
