Millicent Alooh HSC is a Biomedical Engineer currently working as the Regional Director of BMET implementation for NEST360, an International alliance united to end preventable newborn death in African hospitals. She also serves as the Hon Secretary General for the Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya, AMEK, and a Member of the Global Clinical Engineering Alliance, GCEA, she is also a strategic advisory member of medical devices at WHO, and a medical devices policy review committee member at the Kenya Bureau of Standards, KEBS.
Millicent currently works with Rice University for Global Health technology as the Regional Director, BMET implementation since Sept 2022. She has Served as Head of the Engineering department at Mp Shah Hospital, Nairobi; Manager Biomedical Engineering department at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi; Facility Manager at the Aga Khan Hospital Kisumu and as the biomedical Engineering technologist then maintenance-in-charge with the Nairobi Women’s Hospital.
She started her training with a diploma and proceeded to the undergraduate program in biomedical engineering. She has a Master of Science in project planning and management and is currently pursuing a PhD in Project Planning and management. She has received the following awards: Head of State Commendation (HSC), Biomedical Champion of the Year, Star Person of the Year, and Covid-19 Hero.
Fun Fact: She loves languages and can speak basic Chinese, Kenya Sign Language, Suba, English, and Swahili. One of her favourite books is “Maximise your potential” by Myles Munroe.
