It has been a decade-long journey of practicing public health, a journey full of passion and determination I embarked on as a fresh medical school graduate practicing in the rural village of Kalikapur in West Bengal. Eager to scale greater heights, I pursued a Master’s degree in Public Health from the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2012-2014. My first foray into research began at the NGO Public Health Research Network in Delhi, where I contributed to a Save the Children project comparing healthcare systems in the high-performing district Mathura and low-performing district Gonda in Uttar Pradesh. In 2015, I shattered glass ceilings as the first woman physician and Assistant Director of the all-male Directorate of Factories, West Bengal Department of Labour. Blazing a trail for women in workplace inclusion, I leveraged my expertise in industrial occupational health as a pioneering Inspector of Factories. My diverse experiences have shaped me into a passionate public health professional committed to driving change.
