Rijuta Sawant, Manager-Monitoring and Evaluation, SNEHA (Society of Nutrition Education and Health Action)
Professionally public health and nutrition expert, with diverse experience of over a decade in the development sector. Currently, I work as Monitoring and Evaluation Manager at SNEHA, a Mumbai-based NGO, with multi-dimensional profile of capacity building, data management, impact evaluation and academic writing to envision healthy urban communities. My commitment to public health emerged during my graduation internship in public health facilities. Years of pursuing health management post-graduation were transformative for me, nurturing professional expertise, an empathetic perspective and deep understanding of the socio-ecological context of public health. Early experiences in social health insurance accentuated the dual pathways of addressing health disparities. Later as the lead implementor in community based randomized control trial, with technical expertise I could bridge gap of service provision and access to achieve RMNCHA outcomes. Transitioning into the Monitoring and Evaluation domain, I collaborated with the domain head to develop M & E frameworks and guidelines for the NGO, and implementing it to various public health, system strengthening and community engagement projects. Beyond the technical expertise, I contribute in fostering system thinking and collaborative work environment. Along with professional acumen, I demonstrate integrity and strong values in personal and professional behavior. My journey in the development sector is not limited to the professional growth; it’s a narrative of enrichment and fulfillment, harnessing inclusiveness and commitment to public health.
