I, Dr Rita Narayanan, Professor and Head, Dept.of Food Processing Technology, College of Food and Dairy Technology, Koduveli Chennai, of the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University am a Dairy Microbiologist with 22 years of experience in teaching and research . I have worked on Antibiotic resides in milk and have completed my doctoral degree in Probiotics and its equation with gut microbiota. I have authored books on Food Microbiology and Milk and Public health and have more than 50 research publications in peer reviewed journals. I have also penned mongraphs and articles for students and farmers. I also review on line journals especially in the field of Dairy science and safety related issues. I am also the recipient of the prestigious Kurien Award from TANUVAS. Currently I am involved in studying the effect of prebiotics on probiotics and also exploring in the field of anthocyanins. I have guided 6 M.tech students and 3 PhD scholars and currently guiding students too I am also regularly involved as a Resource person in the Training of Trainers (ToTs) on Dairy Processing organized by Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research, Puducherry for District Level Trainers (DLT) on “Dairy Processing” under the Prime Minster Formalization of Micro food processing Enterprises (PM-FME) Scheme of MoFPI, GOIPMFME scheme on Regulations and standard for maintaining food safety and quality, and HACCP Implementation Programme”(on line mode). I head the Food Processing Technology division were my Post graduate students are involved in extrusion technology in development of millet based nutrient dense ready to eat products. In the past 3 years I have organised 3 National Short term Training Programme for faculty of Food Sciences and a National Conference for Food Scientists on Online mode funded by AICTE. I was also nominated to visit as an observer to the University of Tasmania ,Australia in November 2022. I have also organized 2 days National Conference cum Workshop on Millets to commemorate the International year of Millets on 14th and 15th of September 2023. I am also a member of the Board of Studies of the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and am involved as a technical expert in the Tamil Nadu Dairy Development Department.
