2023 Leadership Journey Project: The role of leadership in improving family planning uptake through the private sector
Rose Aliano is a professional Nurse Manager who has gained experience working at different levels of service delivery under various titles, including Nursing Officer and Senior Nursing Officer. Rose obtained a Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing, Bachelor’s of Nursing Science, Advanced Diploma in Health Services Management, and a Master’s in Public Health, focusing on orientation health systems and disease control.
At the District level, she served as the Assistant District Health Officer / District Health Officer, focusing on Maternal and Child Health, as well as Public Health in general. Rose’s first job was at International Hospital Kampala, Uganda, where she worked as a Comprehensive Nurse in 2004. She later joined Kumi District Local Government, where she was appointed as a Nursing Officer in 2005 and then promoted to Senior Nursing Officer in 2013. In 2012, she also had an opportunity to lecture at Islamic University in Uganda.
Rose then transferred her services to Ngora District Local Government, where she served as the Assistant District Health Officer, in charge of Maternal and Child Health in 2016, and simultaneously acted as the District Health Officer from December 2016 to October 2020.
Fun Fact: Rose enjoys being with people of various backgrounds and has developed strong interpersonal skills that enable her to work effectively with individuals from different walks of life.
