I transitioned from a career in research to that in science communication and over this time, I have been mentored by women, collaborated with them, and learnt from them. Now, I want to take all that into the next stage, working on problems uniquely challenging women. As a communications specialist, I bring years of experience in crafting impactful narratives for science organizations and people who have shaped or are shaping the course of science in India. My responsibilities have spanned from content development for diverse media to formulating external and internal communication strategies, to advising senior management on communication best practices. I worked with the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, Office of Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, and currently engaged with the Archives at Christian Medical College Vellore and DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance. The approach towards bridging science and society varies with the ethos of these organisations and it was interesting to experience and learn how women engage with others at the interface of government, academia, industry, and society. As someone who loves to write about people’s experiences, I wish to also help others to learn from the experiences of these women.
