Sushmita Malaviya, is a communications professional who has worked with Hindustan Times, Central Chronicle (both in Bhopal), Patriot and The Statesman (Delhi). Since 2007, while she supported large public health programmes in India such as polio, routine immunization, family planning and currently tuberculosis, she has continued to explore the relationship between environment and public health in India. She has also worked with IPE Global, REACH, MAMTA Health Institute in Lucknow, John Snow Pvt India Ltd, PATH in New Delhi where she was part of the Defeat Diarrheal Disease team. She worked as the media consultant for UNICEF’s polio program – first for the Uttar Pradesh UNICEF office and later with the India Country Office, New Delhi. Prior to joining UNICEF, she worked with mainstream media houses in India including the Hindustan Times (Bhopal) and The Central Chronicle (in Bhopal). She began her career in New Delhi with The Patriot and The Statesman. She has been the Charles Wallace Visiting Fellow at the Cardiff University (UK), and a media fellow for organizations such as Grouppe Developpment (Kolkata), Sathi (Bengaluru) and a National Foundation for India, New Delhi.
