Sylvia Wamuhu Mbirwe has more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience in the health sector, with expertise in Health Systems Strengthening, Social Franchising, Social Behaviour Change, Social Marketing, Market development, Project management, and Team leadership. She has wide experience overseeing and driving health programs in both the Public and Private health sectors, and a thorough understanding of the international and local development space having spearheaded projects funded by a wide range of donors. Sylvia is committed to making a positive change in the lives of women and girls.
She is currently working at PS Kenya as Reproductive Health and Project Director for the DESIP Programme funded by FCDO, Accelerate (SRHR) Project funded by Danida, and A360 (SRH and Economic Empowerment for young girls) funded by Children Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). Prior to this, Sylvia worked as the Director/ Project Lead for Health Systems where she led the HBCC COVID-19 Project funded by FCDO and Unilever, WHO COVID-19 project, and SHOPS Plus funded by USAID. She also worked as the Director for Health Service Delivery and Partnership at PS Kenya and as the Director for Sales and Distribution at PSI.
Sylvia holds a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi, which she obtained in 2007, and a Bachelor of Education in Home-Economics from Kenyatta University, which she obtained in 1995.
Fun Fact: Sylvia has recently developed a new hobby – hiking. She has climbed three mountains/hills and has a target to climb three more in 2023. She reached the peak in all three hikes and felt like a super winner!
