2022 Leadership Journey Project: Developing a breast cancer awareness program at the University level
My research attempts to decode the intricacies of sphingolipid signalling in tumor progression using multidisciplinary approaches including lipidomics, transcriptomics, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. We are interested in studying epigenetic, transcriptional and post-transcriptional mechanisms regulating diverse signalling pathways during tumor development, and those targeting the tumor microenvironment in response to cancer chemotherapeutics. In collaboration with clinicians we also work with patient samples with the objective to identify sphingolipid-based prognostic and diagnostic biomarkers that can have therapeutic potential as well.
